Ute driver allegedly rams speed camera car on Craigieburn Rd East, Wollert

A Whittlesea driver deliberately crashed into a manned speed camera car multiple times then fled the scene, police say.

A speed camera car was allegedly repeatedly rammed early Monday morning causing significant damage.

It’s alleged a four-wheel drive crashed multiple times into a speed camera car parked alongside Craigieburn Rd East, Wollert before driving off about 1.40am.

The camera operator was not injured but his car sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.

The alleged offender’s car is described as a black or dark grey older-model Nissan Navara single-cab utility with a tray.

The front end of the car likely sustained damage during the incident.

Investigators wish to speak to anyone who saw a car matching the description in the area around the time of the incident.

Panel beaters are also urged to keep an eye out for cars that match the description coming into workshops for repairs to their front ends.
