Tullamarine man charged over alleged road rage incident

A CRAIGIEBURN man has been charged over a horror road rage incident, while a car catches fire, cigarettes stolen and a drone takes flight, in recent crimes across Hume.

A SIGNIFICANT number of cigarettes were stolen from a supermarket in Hothlyn Drive, Craigieburn, about 3am on Tuesday, May 29.

Hume detectives investigated and arrested a 31-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman from Craigieburn in relation to the incident. Both have been charged with burglary.

They have been remanded in custody to reappear at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court this month.

CAMPBELLFIELD

A Nissan X-Trail caught fire near Merri Concourse on Monday, May 28, at 3.23am.

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade responded to reports of a vehicle on fire and found the vehicle completely engulfed by flames.

The vehicle had been reported stolen from an address in Wheelers Hill two days earlier. The matter is under investigation.

TULLAMARINE

A 27-year-old Craigieburn man was arrested and charged with multiple offences after a road rage incident in Tullamarine on May 26.

It is alleged two women aged in their 60s were travelling along the Tullamarine Freeway about 1.10pm when a truck began sideswiping them.

Both vehicles turned into Blackwells Rd, Wildwood, and the truck driver approached the women with a hammer and a stick, damaging the vehicle and assaulting one of the women. The court heard the alleged offender was having withdrawals from the drug ice.

ROXBURGH PARK

A drone was stolen from an electronics store in Roxburgh Park on May 24. Police believe three men entered the Somerton Rd store between 5pm and 5.15pm.

One man distracted the store attendant while a second man took the Folding Quad-Copter drone before leaving the store without paying.

A third man was present. The first man was described as caucasian and was wearing a grey hoodie and red cap.

A second man appears caucasian and aged in his 30s, with dark hair and wearing an orange hi-vis jumper.

A third man is aged in his late 20s with dark hair and wearing all black and a black cap. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

SUNBURY

A Sunbury man, 24, is facing charges of reckless conduct, endangering life and drink and drug-driving in relation to a road rage incident outside Sunbury police station on May 26.

The driver, who was released on bail, allegedly rammed into a car driven by a Sunbury mother carrying her two children, aged four and 11.

The man allegedly climbed on to the car’s bonnet and stomped on the roof, carrying out a 30-minute assault on the family. The Sunbury man will return to Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court in September.
