A much-loved Thomastown cheese factory has been named Business of the Year in Melbourne’s north.
That’s Amore took out the coveted award at the Northern Business Achievement Awards last week.
The thriving Latitude Blvd business, which has a licensed retail outlet in front of the factory, also took out a prize for customer service.
Owner Giorgio Liguanti said the business had grown enormously since it opened in 2015, and customers were driving from the opposite end of the city, and even regionally, to buy their cheese.
“We are absolutely thrilled to win this award,” he said.
“We are located in a very quiet industrial area of Thomastown, but we are proud that we are bringing people out into the middle of nowhere.
“We get people from the south of Melbourne, driving an hour, sometimes two hours, just to visit us and try our products.”

Mr Liguanti said the business had focused on branching out into various pockets of Melbourne in the past 12 months.
“We’ve had cannoli pop-up stalls all over Melbourne this year and definitely plan to keep developing and expanding our reach,” he said.
“But we don’t want people to forget where our home is.
“Thomastown is our headquarters — we serve our food as fresh as possible, with our cheese being made directly behind the shop and that’s pretty special.”
