PRESTON’S junction precinct has become a hoppier place to be with the opening of a new brewhouse late last year.

Tallboy & Moose is the brainchild of Daniel Hall and Steven Germain.

The pair became friends at Moondog Brewery in Abbotsford four years ago and opened the doors to their Preston ‘brew-pub’ in October 2016.

The family (and dog) friendly brewhouse boasts a large and open space, a ping pong table and beer garden and in its first two months of operation has made the top six of Concrete Playground’s best new Melbourne pubs of 2016.

All the house beers are brewed, kegged and sold on site with the intention of offering customers a fresher and more flavoursome beer.

The brewing duo are yet to identically replicate a single batch of beer as either the hops, malts, or yeast strains are mixed and matched.

One of the newest brews in the making, their HPA 305 Pale Ale, will use a hop so new that it’s yet to be named.

“The goal is to keep it fresh and interesting by experimenting with new flavours and variety,” Mr Germain said.

At least four house beers are rotated on tap at any one time — with the exception of the flagship Cream Ale, which is a mainstay.

If you find one of their beers so irresistible that you simply must take it home, you ‘can’.

Your favourite beer can be poured into a one-litre can — the Crowler (a canned version of the takeaway Growler bottle) — clamped shut, ready for you to take home.

For those who prefer a different kind of tipple there’s a comprehensive wine list, spirits and freshly juiced apples available.

While there is currently no kitchen (in the works for later this year) customers can BYO food or

enjoy the offerings of the food trucks that visit on weekends.

Tallboy & Moose can also be booked for private functions and is located at 270 Raglan St, Preston, open Wednesday to Friday 4- 11pm, Saturday 12-11pm and Sunday 12-9 pm.
