Street Watch Hume: Man was caught with a gun, drugs and cash

A MAN has been charged after police allegedly uncovered a “pill press” and chemicals used to make drugs at his house in Melbourne’s northwest.

What happens in a criminal trial?

IT was a busy week for Hume police, with the discovery of a DIY drug lab and several car fires across the region.

KENSINGTON

A man has appeared in court after being caught with a gun and a large amount of drugs as well as cash. The 32-year-old allegedly had drugs and phones on him when police stopped him for a “routine check” while he walked down a Meadow Heights street on Tuesday, July 3. A person who has multiple phones often raises the eyebrows of police because drug dealers are known to use different phones and numbers to avoid detection. Officers stopped the man on Denver Court and went to his house in Kensington where they allegedly found a clandestine laboratory. Police say they found a “pill press” and chemicals used to make drugs, along with more than $40,000 in cash.

Beware of fake Medicare email scammers who have set up a clone of the myGov website to trick you into sharing your login and bank account details. The scam starts with a phishing email that looks like it is from Medicare, asking you to update your electronic funds transfer (EFT) details so you can start receiving payments for Medicare benefits and claims. If you click on the link in the email, you are taken to a replica of the myGov website. The URL includes ‘.net’ instead of ‘.gov.au’, which indicates the website is not legitimate.
