Stefan Mateiasevici accused of Mernda, Doreen parcels thefts
A Mernda man on bail has allegedly been driving around the northern suburbs stealing parcels soon after they’re delivered to doorsteps. And mail isn’t all he’s allegedly been stealing.

A Mernda man has allegedly been ruthlessly profiting from Melbourne’s online shopping boom, driving around collecting parcels left at front doors in the northern suburbs.
Alleged serial thief Stefan Mateiasevici has also been accused of stealing a car, number plates, power tools, shoes, IDs and bank cards.
The father fronted Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on September 10 to apply for bail.
He was already on bail and banned from driving when he allegedly drove around Mernda,
Doreen and Watsonia North on August 13, stealing parcels just after Australia Post had left them on doorsteps.
As well as deliveries, the unemployed man also allegedly nicked two worn pairs of Nike sneakers, worth $430, from a front porch before the owner saw Mateiasevici running down his driveway.
Mateiasevici has also been accused of jemmying open post boxes at Doreen post office, stealing more parcels, and of stealing letters from mailboxes.
He was also allegedly caught on CCTV stealing tools from a ute.
Mateiasevici was allegedly caught with a heap of stolen goods and drugs when police arrested him in Greensborough on August 23.
He allegedly had stolen items including a $30,0000 car, new desk chair, baking mixer, electrical tools, five sets of number plates, a laptop wallets and mail.
The drug user was also allegedly caught with two bottles of GHB and amphetamine.
Police argued Mateiasevici should be kept in custody, having allegedly repeatedly offended on bail.
Lawyer Jarred Hofman said there were triable issues with the prosecution case, proposing his client be bailed on a “radically different regime” including drug screens and mental health treatment.
Magistrate Meagan Keogh said Mateiasevici would be able to get better rehabilitative support in the community due to restrictions COVID-19 was imposing in custody.
She granted him bail with strict conditions.
