“(Bayswater) are obviously a really good team having a really good season,” captain-coach James Dickinson said.
“It’s good that we’re mixing it with the better teams in the competition.”
While stopping short of declaring the win as his side’s best of the season, Dickinson said it was pleasing Plenty Valley was “starting to play the game the way we want to play”.
“We put the score on the board and defended it with tight bowling,” he said.
“We are starting to put a few things together, individuals are bowling and batting towards the team plan.
“It is good to have a bit of momentum going into finals hopefully if we get a win (this) week.”
Dickinson praised the performance of Dayne Smith (4-50) — who has taken 12 wickets since the turn of the year — after he led a bowling unit in which every player claimed at least one wicket.
“The top six is really even, so every team is looking to finish as high as they can,” Dickinson said.
“It means the results of the last game still means something … and every team will be fighting hard this weekend.”
Plenty Valley will host Box Hill in a one-day fixture this weekend, with a win to guarantee a home final.
