Seven from the Northern Football League in Vic Metro team to tackle Vic Country at Kardinia Park

THE Northern Football League has had seven players named in the Vic Metro team to tackle AFL Victoria Country in Geelong on Saturday.

Metro and country will do battle for the AFL Victoria Community Cup at Kardinia Park as the curtain-raiser to the Geelong v Richmond AFL match.

It will be just the second time the City v Country match has taken place, the first being in 1986.

The Montmorency trio of Ryan Jackson, Jesse Donaldson and Patrick Fitzgerald will join Bundoora’s Cameron Cloke and Matthew Dennis in the team along with Lower Plenty’s Patrick Flynn and Nick Carter (Northcote Park).

Vic Metro coach Brian Royal has named a 24-man team, with two emergencies, from the six metropolitan leagues that competed in the Metro Championships in March.

The NFL has the most representatives in the squad with the Eastern Football League having six and the Victorian Amateur Football Association five.
