AN Under-19 Northern Blues player will face the Victorian Amateur Football Association tribunal tonight charged with making negligent contact with an umpire.

League records show Mohamed Kodsi is due to front the tribunal at 7pm after an incident in the Blues five-point win against Therry Penola on Saturday, May 17.

VAFA spokesman Andrew Leonard said Kodsi would be handed a mandatory eight-week penalty if he pleaded guilty after being charged under the AFL Laws of the Game.

Leonard said all umpires from the Under-19 North match, which the Blues won 8.4 (52) to 6.11 (47), were expected to attend tonight’s hearing.

Northern Blues president Jon Carter said the club had been in regular discussion with the league since the incident, but declined to comment further pending the hearing.
