NORTHERN Blues will have Victorian Amateur Football Association Division 2’s leaders looking nervously over their shoulders throughout the remaining rounds of 2015.

Few sides have come close to Ivanhoe and St John’s this year as the clubs established themselves as the competition’s frontrunners.

Ivanhoe has been the division’s dominant side throughout 2015, losing just once.

The ladder leader took care of St John’s in Round 9, handing it one of its two defeats of the year.

St John’s other loss came against Northern Blues, while the only blemish on Ivanhoe’s copybook was delivered by George Wakim’s side.

The Blues sit fifth on the ladder after 12 rounds, behind fourth-placed Eltham Collegians on percentage.

Wakim said his side was confident it could make an impact if it secures a finals spot.

“We do believe that our best football is really good but we just don’t produce it week-in, week-out, which is the frustrating thing,” Wakim said.

“Certainly when we play good we know we’re capable of beating anybody.”

The Blues were at their best against Elsternwick in Round 12, posting a 79-point win as Damon Marcon and Lachlan McRedmond fired in front of goal.
