Two North Metro Cricket Association clubs in are going into bat for one of their own.

Lalor Warriors all-rounder Tonie Kalra was involved in a horrific car accident last week and has undergone surgery.

He suffered multiple fractures in his leg as well as his hips and as a result will be unable to play this season and perhaps even the following one — if he returns at all.

Tonie has played for Fairfield CC and Lalor Warriors CC in the First XI.

He has played 171 career games, scoring 3852 runs and has taken 335 wickets.

Lalor Warriors and Fairfield will play a friendly T20 game this Sunday, December 5 in the hope of raising some money for him and his family.

Tonie will be unable to work and is the sole provider to his wife and two children.

The game will be at Lalor Reserve, starting at 1pm.

Multiple raffles and auctions will be held, with all money raised to be donated to Tonie and his family.
