IT TAKES something out of the ordinary to upstage someone like Alan Didak.

North Heidelberg’s Shane Harvey did just that on Saturday.

Didak joined the Bulldogs for a one-off Northern Football League Division 2 appearance as they hosted Epping at Shelley Street Reserve.

While the crowds might have come for a look at the former Magpie, what they got was an exhibition from the Bulldogs’ main man Harvey.

Harvey helped himself to 10 goals as the unbeaten Bulldogs cruised to a 39-point win.

The visitors did their best to hang with the home side, and might have done so if not for some poor goalkicking early.

The Blues trailed by 16 points at half-time, despite having had four more scoring shots than the home side.

North Heidelberg restricted their opportunities in the second half, and the lead was out to six goals by three-quarter time, as the home side went on to win 20.10 (130) to 13.13 (91).

Harvey was a clear best-on-ground with his 10 goals, while John Green, Lachlan Dowling and Leigh Bentley each kicked two.

Jarrod Spurrell and Luke Villanti were also good for North Heidelberg.

The win extended the Bulldogs’ unbeaten run to seven games to start the Division 2 season, giving them a one-game lead on Mernda at the top of the table.

HEIDELBERG made it seven in succession to open the Division 1 season after seeing off West Preston Lakeside at Warringal Park on Saturday.

The Tigers finished the stronger of the two sides to take a 21-point win, 13.8 (86) to 9.11 (65), and remain on top of the table.

Macleod, meanwhile, is further back in fifth place after losing a close one at home to Montmorency, 17.20 (122) to 17.11 (113).

AND, Heidelberg West suffered a heavy loss away to Watsonia in Division 3, 21.18 (144) to 7.7 (49).
