THE likelihood of Magin magic lighting up Kyneton Showgrounds next year has doubled.
Kyneton has backed up the signing of former Gold Coast and Bendigo VFL player Alik Magin by snaring his brother Rhys from Essendon District Football League club Avondale Heights.
Magin has signed with Kyneton after five years at Avondale Heights.
The midfield jet finished second in the EDFL club’s best-and-fairest this year behind star forward Dean Galea.
Kyneton coach Mark Adamson said Magin represented a significant signing for the Tigers.
“Rhys Magin has signed with us and will be coming on board as well,” Adamson said.
“He was probably in their top-three players regularly last year in (one of) the top sides in the Essendon league.
“He’s rated in the better midfielder-forwards in the competition.”
Magin booted 16 goals from 19 games in the EDFL’s Premier Division this year.
Adamson said a key forward and key defender remained the club’s top recruiting priorities.
