They recovered, prospered and then feasted on the visitors’ bowling attack, combining for a club record 352-run stand.
Richardson blasted 180 — also a club record — while Boddy finished unconquered on 160.
The pair hammered 46 boundaries and two sixes between them to lift Laurimar, which is in its third season as a senior club in DVCA, to a record total of 6-472 from 80 overs.
“We set a task to bat our 80 overs, and we’ve got a really good batting line-up, the top five,” coach Mick Peters said.
“They didn’t get the runs at the start and it was really good to see the middle order fire.
“To put a score like that on was just amazing.
“We were sitting there watching and just couldn’t believe it.
“We were in a little bit of trouble at 4-84 … but from then on they settled themselves down and it was unbelievable to watch. They just kept piling on the runs.”
Richardson’s knock marked a return to form after he entered the match with 127 runs from eight innings in 2018-19.
Boddy has been a model of consistency and lifted his season aggregate to 522 runs at 87.
“He (Richardson) had a really good year last year and has struggled a little bit this year with form,” Peters said.
“For him to come out just before finals and get a good hit under his belt and make a score like that was unbelievable.”
Research Eltham Collegians, Hurstbridge and Panton Hill will join Laurimar in finals.
