A roid-head drug dealer nabbed with a loaded semiautomatic handgun and almost a kilo of ice has been jailed.
Abboud Sayah, 43, was sentenced in the County Court to a minimum three years’ and six months’ jail after pleading guilty to trafficking a commercial quantity of drugs.
Police pulled apart Sayah’s Mercedes-Benz after it was impounded when he was caught speeding through Preston in June 2018.
An X-ray of the car uncovered a .38 semi automatic handgun hidden under the car’s centre console, which was loaded with four bullets and had the serial number sawn off.
Bags containing 966.7g of methamphetamine — almost four times what constitutes a commercial quantity of a drug — were found under a mat in the passenger footwell.
Police then found 30 vials of steroids in Sayah’s bedroom at his home.
Three weeks later — a week before he was arrested over the gun and drugs — police were called to a hotel in the city to deal with him.
Sayah attempted to book a room while drug-affected but was in such a bad state the drug fiend was taken to hospital by ambulance and placed in an induced coma.
The court heard Sayah had been addicted to drugs, including steroids, ice, GHB, Xanax, OxyContin, for almost 20 years.
Sayah, an underworld figure with a lengthy criminal history, told police he carried the gun for protection.
The drug addled roid-head was shot in 2013 then again in 2015, the court heard.
Sayah was shot four times in the 2013 incident and had to spend a year learning to walk again.
The court was told Sayah had been called on to “mediate, reconcile and de-escalate” the “drug-related activities” which led to him being shot.
Sayah, a former labourer and highly trained kickboxer, suffered from a range of complex problems including chronic substance abuse.
Sayah, from Preston, also has a “mild intellectual disability” and a history criminal priors including drug and driving offences.
Judge Wendy Wilmoth jailed Sayah for a maximum of six years.
Sayah — who also pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm as a prohibited person — had spent 777 days in custody.
