A taser, cash and a large stash of drugs, including cocaine and Viagra, were found when police raided a convicted drug dealer’s Reservoir home.
Yasin Trakci had only got out of jail eight months earlier, and was on a corrections order for trafficking methamphetamine, when police discovered he was back in the game.
They raided his bungalow about 6.40am on March 26, finding 15g of methamphetamine — five times the trafficable quantity, Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court heard.
Viagra, 500ml of GHB, 30g of cannabis, 4g grams of cocaine and a taser were also discovered, as well as $7800 cash.
Trakci’s lawyer told the court his client had a significant drug addiction and was not intending to sell all the drugs, but use a lot of them.
“He’s feeding his habit,” his lawyer said.
“It would not be high-end trafficking, it would be trafficking to sustain an addiction.”
Requesting a sentence indication before the court on Tuesday, June 16, Trakci’s lawyer said his client, who initially contested the charges, was offering a large utilitarian benefit to the court by pleading guilty.
The panel beater agreed to plead guilty after Magistrate Michael McNamara said he would order jail time and another corrections order.
Mr McNamara said it was “no doubt serious offending”, sentencing Trakci to six months’ jail followed by an 18-month community corrections order, on Wednesday, June 17.
He noted Trakci had already served 82 days in custody since being arrested.
