Witnesses observed a large police presence on High St, Reservoir on Friday morning as a rumour circulated someone was threatening to set off a bomb.

A Victoria Police spokesman confirmed police were called to High St to examine a “suspect package” about 10.45am.

The package was found to be a box of clothing and deemed not suspicious.

“The owner of the stuff was there, it was all a bit of a misunderstanding”, the spokesman said.

Staff at the Reservoir Justice Service Centre confirmed there had been a “police incident” at the building.
