ANGLERS will fork out more for recreational fishing licenses under a pricing restructure to be introduced on July 1.
Fisheries Victoria executive director Travis Dowling said the extra revenue would be used on projects that benefit recreational fishing.
From July 1, the pricing structure will be:
2-DAY LICENCE
Was $6, now becomes a 3-day licence for $10
28-DAY LICENCE
Was $12, will increase to $20
1-YEAR LICENCE
Was $24.50, will increase to $35 ($33 if bought online)
3-YEAR LICENCE
Was $66, will increase to $95 ($90 if bought online)
“These projects complement the State Government’s Target One Million plan, which aims to get more people fishing, more often,” Mr Dowling said.
“The extra revenue generated by these licensing changes will boost investment meaning more fish stocking, more improvements to angler access and facilities, and more community fishing events where newcomers can come and try this popular pastime.”
Mr Dowling said recreational fishing licence fees had not increased since 2008.
“There will be no changes to exemptions and children under 18 will continue to fish for free,” he said.
