Police have made a dent in the operations of gangs across Melbourne’s northern suburbs with a series of major raids.

Properties in Epping, Broadmeadows, Pascoe Vale and Brunswick were targeted on Tuesday to get illegal guns off the streets amid growing gun violence in Melbourne’s north west.

Detective Acting Superintendent Anthony Browne said gangs were using firearms to target one another

“If they want to roll the dice they could be looking at 10 years in prison,” Acting Superintendent Browne said.

“(This week’s) enforcement sends a clear message to organised crime groups.”

Meanwhile, police charged three people over the trafficking of $450,000 in meth after raiding homes in Ascot Vale, Keilor Downs and Taylors Lakes.

Police made the first arrest of the six-month investigation on March 31, when a car was pulled over on Pascoe Vale’s Cumberland Rd and was discovered to have $161,000 cash and 2kg of meth.

Police charged a 38-year-old Cannons Creek man, a 34-year-old Keilor Downs man and a 34-year-old Ascot Vale woman in relation to the offending.

In a separate investigation involving five separative police units, three men were arrested in a targeted organised crime sting.

They were a 40-year-old Bulleen man, a 33-year-old Craigieburn man and a 23-year-old Roxburgh Park man.
