The survey asks road users to nominate areas of congestion in their community that make them “see red”, with the intersection jumping two spots since 2012.
According to Sunbury Residents’ Association president Bernie O’Farrell (pictured), a place in the top 10 was a strong indicator that the roundabout needed urgent work, with 72 per cent of residents expressing frustration with the site.
Mr O’Farrell lives and works in Sunbury and uses the roundabout regularly.
He said while there had been no major accidents, potential was climbing.
“With the population growth, the congestion that occurs is getting worse and that’s why it needs to have treatment sooner rather than later,” he said.
There have also been calls for a third railway crossing at Gap Rd towards Vineyard Rd to alleviate pressure at both the Horne St and Riddell Rd intersections, a request first put in by the residents’ association more than a decade ago.
Across Sunbury and the Macedon Ranges, 73 per cent of drivers indicated that congestion points made them frustrated
