A mother-of-two with a passion for nice handbags has admitted to stealing more than $2000 worth of goods from a shopping centre in Melbourne’s north.
And Nicole Scicluna, 27, even did the five finger discount while shopping with her mum on one of the occasions she smuggled stolen items out of Northland Shopping Centre, Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court has heard.
Scicluna, 27, was shopping with her mum when she stole $1478.40 worth of items from Myer Northland on September 13, 2018.
The court heard Scicluna was captured on CCTV walking around the store placing items, including a Mimco gym bag, into divider bags in a trolley, before leaving the shopping centre without paying for them.
Scicluna then returned to the centre with a friend on March 30, 2019, this time targeting the Mimco store itself.
The court heard she placed two handbags and a wallet — worth $697 — into a trolley left the centre without paying for them.

But her actions were captured on CCTV.
Scicluna pleaded guilty to two charges of theft when she went before the court on Wednesday, March 18.
The court heard she had no criminal history and was trying to find a job.
Magistrate Michael McNamara said he was giving Scicluna her “one and only chance”.
He ordered her to pay $300 to the court fund and to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
