A Lalor gym junkie took steroids because he “couldn’t go to the gym”, a court has heard.
Noel Dall, 32, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to a string of charges, including drug possession, handling stolen identity documents and possessing an ID-making machine.
The court heard Dall was caught with the illegal items when police raided a Lalor address in August 2020.
Police found two boxes and two vials of steroids, four vials of testosterone and two stolen driver’s licences.
They also found a mobile phone including a picture of a fake ID with Dall’s face to be copied onto a fake driver’s licence in a bedroom.
A bag of heroin and a Kathmandu pouch containing more licences in various names was found in the lounge room and two ID-making machines were found in the garage and rear bedroom.
Dall told police at the time he intended to throw out the IDs but admitted to having the steroids and testosterone for personal use while he couldn’t go to the gym.
Magistrate Michelle Hodgson said she was unimpressed with Dall’s lawyer’s brief sentencing submissions.
“This is not the type of matter that you (Dall’s lawyer, Counsel Manny Nicolosi) can just turn up and just have limited material before me,” she said.
“This is not a quick plea, this is a full plea … maybe Mr Dall has not fully grasped the seriousness of his situation.”
Ms Hodgson told Mr Nicolosi she was in no position to sentence Dall.
She refused to consider a corrections order until more material was submitted.
She gave Mr Nicolosi a caution and adjourned the matter until October 11.
