Leader has put together a list of fun and exciting events happening in Melbourne’s northern suburbs this month for you to enjoy.

Brunswick Music Festival

Brunswick Music Festival is on until March 13, with a jam-packed musical line up that has something for everyone.

There are plenty of events each day to enjoy, with jazz, hip hop, funk and more on offer.

Highlights of the program include a Bali-Brunswick fusion featuring a 16-piece percussion orchestra on stage and Balinese-Australian vocalist Rosie Clynes.

The festival will wrap up with a special event on Monday called Music for the Mob, a free family friendly event at Gilpin Park.

Attendees are encouraged to pack a picnic and bring the children along to enjoy an afternoon of music in the shade, headed up by Wergaia woman and singer-songwriter Alice Skye.

Pentridge Open-Air Cinema, Coburg

Pentridge Cinema in Coburg has launched an Open-Air series this month, keeping locals entertained every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in March.

Attendees can enjoy night in front of the screen on the green in Coburg Pentridge Precinct, watching award-winning films and classics.

The cinema is also hosting pre-screening events with trivia competitions and best-dressed prizes.

Highlights of the program this weekend include the latest movie in the Scream franchise and the cult-classic film Beetlejuice.

Out of the Park Picnic, Reservoir

Out of the Park Picnic is a free celebration of fantastic music and arts at Edwardes Lake in Reservoir on March 12.

Multicultural Arts Victoria and Fuse Darebin have joined to present the event as a launch for the multi-arts Fuse Autumn festival, which will run from March 11 to 26.

The picnic afternoon will be a family friendly and free event delivering live music and performance crafted locally.

Leading the event will be Noongar and Gumbaynggirr woman Emma Donovan, an ARIA-nominated singer songwriter, who will bring soulful songs to the stage.

With live music, a drumming workshop, food trucks and pop up activities in the natural surrounds of Edwardes Lake Park, the event is sure to be a hit.
