UPDATE: All Altona-bound lanes are now open on the M80 Ring Road at Sydney Road following the serious crash as delays ease through the area.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the man riding the motorbike has been taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.
EARLIER: A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital in serious condition after colliding with a truck in Fawkner.
Emergency services were called to the Western Ring Road at the Sydney Road on-ramp just after 8.30am.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the male rider was trapped under the truck for a short time before being transported to the hospital.
“The female driver of the truck was uninjured and stopped and assisted police,” the spokeswoman said.
Two of the three Altona-bound lanes of the M80 Ring Road are closed between the exit and entry ramps at Sydney Road, Fawkner due to a serious collision.

Drivers exiting at Sydney Rd can immediately return to the freeway using the Altona-bound entry ramp.
A Vic Roads spokesman said access from the Hume Freeway to the M80 Ring Road remained open, however motorists must then exit the freeway at Sydney Road.
“Access from the Hume Freeway to the M80 Ring Road remains open,” the spokesman said.
The VicRoads signals team is monitoring conditions in the area and will adjust traffic lights to minimise congestion on surrounding roads.
