Two more people, including a teenage girl, have been charged after a man was allegedly threatened with a knife and had his car stolen in Kew.
Police arrested the pair, a Reservoir man, 24, and a 16-year-old girl, late last week following a string of crimes across Melbourne’s inner northeast in the early hours of January 21.
It follows the arrest of a 29-year-old Preston man, accused of the violent carjacking and holding up two servos while armed with a hammer, on January 21.
Leading Senior Constable Melissa Seach said the alleged rampage started about 4.45am when a man armed with a hammer tried to rob a petrol station on Bell St, Preston.
About 10 minutes later a man entered a service station on Willsmere Rd in Kew, also armed with a hammer, and attempted to rob the store.
“On both occasions the man fled the scene empty-handed and no-one was injured,” Sen-Constable Seach said.
Then, just after 5am, a man was confronted by two men and a woman just after parking his car on Willsmere Rd.
“One of the men armed with a knife threatened the man before stealing his car,” Sen-Constable Seach said.
A Preston man has been charged with armed robbery, three counts of attempted armed robbery, aggravated carjacking, car theft, theft and various drugs offences.
