Maynitee Cook: boyfriend tasered by girlfriend after seeing OnlyFans subscription

A woman, who took her boyfriend’s phone at 3am when he was asleep, found something she wasn’t supposed to — and she didn’t react well.

A Heidelberg woman put her boyfriend in hospital when she shot him a taser after she found his OnlyFans account, a court has heard

The Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on Friday heard that Maynitee Cook, 24, took her boyfriend’s phone at 3am on September 9 while he slept — and discovered that he had been viewing the OnlyFans account of a woman known to the couple.

OnlyFans is a system where users pay individuals to perform sexually explicit content for them.

Police prosecutor Tim Davis said Cook first attacked her partner, who she has been with for four years, with a broom handle, before she smashed a photo frame over his head.

Mr Davis said she continued to use the frame after it had broken into shards and fragments, and stabbed the victim in the leg, causing a small puncture wound.

Cook then tasered her boyfriend, who was subsequently taken to hospital with lacerations, bruising and swelling to his head, injuries police described as “significant”.

In a police interview, Cook said she was “very angry” with her partner, and that she kept the taser for “self-defence”.

Cook pleaded guilty to all eight charges, which included possessing a prohibited weapon, unlawful assault and recklessly causing injury.

Defence lawyer Lauren Kelly said that her client was originally from Thailand, and moved to Australia at the age of one.

“She understands her actions were inappropriate,” Ms Kelly said.

“She understands it was a complete overreaction to being betrayed,” she said.

Ms Kelly said cook had left school in Year 10, and worked briefly as a hairdresser.

She said she also worked in Darwin, as a receptionist in Melbourne and at Woolworths.

The matter, heard before magistrate Helen Murphy, was adjourned part heard to April 11.
