A notorious catfish stalker who drove a woman to suicide after posing as Home And Away star Lincoln Lewis has been accused of menacing a Melbourne husband and wife.

Lydia Abdelmalek, 30, fronted Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on Friday after she was slapped with fresh charges including stalking and using a carriage service to harass.

The court heard allegations Abdelmalek scuffled with a man at Aldi Epping in March this year.

Abdelmalek, under a fake name, posted the man’s image with accompanying accusations to a community Facebook page, it was alleged.

“Be careful of this fellow he abused a young woman at the Aldi Epping,” Abdelmalek allegedly posted.

“This guy was seen abusing a young woman at Aldi Epping yesterday.

“Defending himself, or defending his girlfriend that his wife doesn’t know about.

‘The police are involved now so he can’t hide forever … also we have video footage.”

The court heard Abdelmalek also contacted her alleged victim under a false name, using a display picture of his own family as her profile photo.

Whittlesea detective Senior Constable Emily Trewarne, under cross-examination by Abdelmalek’s lawyer Sam Norton, told the court Abdelmalek also contacted the man’s wife.

The court heard applications for personal safety intervention orders were lodged on behalf of both complainants.

Mr Norton went hard at the prosecution’s case labelling it an “absolute disgrace”.

The prominent criminal barrister also read a message exchange between his client and the alleged victim.

“See you told me you loved me last time ha ha ha I never did,” Mr Norton read to the court.

Mr Norton also read messages sent by the alleged victim to his client.

“No-one can forget my smell,” Mr Norton read to the court.

“I am like a sweet poison.”

Mr Norton submitted the alleged victim was lying about the allegations which is why several charges – including an assault charge – were withdrawn.

Mr Norton fired-up when detective Senior Constable Trewarne told the court she had recently returned from a holiday and hadn’t read key evidence including text exchanges.

“I’m very considerably troubled by this,” Mr Norton said.

“My client should be released immediately,” Mr Norton said.

“The fact that these messages haven’t been considered or read just beggars belief.”

The Magistrate said she understood where Mr Norton was coming from but was limited with time.

“I’m not going to release straight away,” she said.

“If I could extend the link I would extend the link.”

Abdelmalek, who appeared via link to Dame Phyliss Frost Centre, will face court at later date.
