Water jets, children’s learn-to-ride bicycle tracks, barbecues and open event spaces are among the latest plans for a multimillion-dollar revamp of the Whittlesea Public Gardens.
The site at the end of Barry Rd in Lalor will be brought up to a “major community and regional park standard” and is expected to be the municipality’s new “green heart”.
Updated plans showed designs for a new water and adventure play area, including a water channel, recycled concrete pipe maze, water jets and an open lawn with shaded trees.
A children’s learn-to-ride bicycle path was also earmarked for the site, as well as multipurpose courts, a skate space and an entry plaza.
Whittlesea Council adopted a masterplan in 2018 following consultation with the community.
The public is encouraged to have their say again on the latest plans.
