Police allegedly found methamphetamine and cannabis in the home.

Drugs and an imitation gun have been found hidden inside an Epping family home, which is allegedly known as a drug-dealing hotspot.

And a 21-year-old bin diver with a serious intellectual disability is allegedly behind the drug-dealing, Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court has heard.

Lachlan Gosling had a second shot at applying for bail on Monday, July 13, having been behind bars since his family home was raided on June 22.

More than 305 grams of cannabis, almost four grams of methamphetamine, a fake gun and a range of stolen goods were allegedly found in the Cottage Boulevard house.

It was searched after multiple calls to Crimestoppers allegedly reported drug trafficking had been occurring from the front and back of the property, the court heard.

Constable Hamish Mcwhirter said police believed trafficking had been occurring at the address for almost a year.

The court heard Gosling slept in a ‘room’ in the garage, made by walls of hundreds of piled up appliances.

In it, police allegedly found the methamphetamine, 0.8 grams of cannabis, deal bags, scales, a bong, phones and a range of electrical appliances alleged to have been stolen.

An imitation firearm and 304.05 grams of cannabis was allegedly found among clothes in his parents’ walk-in robe, which Gosling’s father allegedly told police belonged to Gosling.

Various other items found in the house, including two brand new motorcycle helmets, a bicycle and a TV, were also seized as alleged stolen goods.

Constable Mcwhirter said police found texts from multiple people on Gosling’s phone, asking him for drugs.

The court heard he had also been arrested on May 18 after he had allegedly just done a drug deal in the carpark of Wollert McDonalds.

Gosling and the man he was talking to allegedly had different reasons for why he had given the man $400 cash, and methamphetamine, cannabis and an ice pipe were found in the seat of Gosling’s electric scooter.

The court heard Gosling suffered a brain injury as an 11-year-old, and made money bin diving and reselling white goods he found.

His mum told the court he was a hoarder, who sold items on Buy, Swap and Sell forums, and used drugs.

But she said she had never been aware of drug dealing at her home.

Gosling’s lawyer argued the alleged stolen items weren’t stolen, but found, and said Gosling was unlikely to receive a jail sentence because of his age and disability.

Magistrate McNamara agreed Gosling would be likely to get a jail sentence as lengthy as the amount of time he risked spending on remand, and bailed him with strict conditions.
