A woman accused of getting a child to film her and a man performing sex acts also allegedly stolen almost $20,000 of designer clothing from Myer and David Jones.
Kira Bunker fronted Heidelberg Magistrates’ Courton Monday, June 1 to apply for bail, having been locked up for 29 days since she was allegedly caught stealing baby formula from Coles Ivanhoe.
The court heard the 30-year-old was facing a charge of committing an indecent act in the presence of a child aged under 16, as well as charges for a series of shop thefts.
Constable Grace Fryden said between 2016 and 2017 a child was allegedly made to film Bunker and a partner performing sexual acts.
Bunker also allegedly stole a range of high-end women’s clothing from Myer and David Jones in October and November last year.
The court heard she allegedly shoplifted from the David Jones stores at Chadstone, Malvern Central and Highpoint several times between October 23 and November 12, allegedly caught on CCTV getting away with $15,858 worth of clothing.
Bunker was allegedly caught in person on October 16 when she allegedly took $3450 worth of Moschino clothing from Myer Bourke St in her bag, and stopped by staff after she left the store.
Bunker used an empty pram and blanket for cover when she allegedly robbed Coles Ivanhoe on May 2 and 3.
The court heard she allegedly put seven $32 baby formula canisters in the pram about 8.21pm on May 2, covering them with a blanket, before only paying for one at the self-serve checkout.
Bunker allegedly used the same trick just after 5pm on May 3, taking two unpaid for canisters from the store in the pram before she was arrested outside the shopping centre by patrolling police.
The court heard Bunker, who was unemployed and on a disability support pension, told police she was stealing the formula to sell to buy heroin.

The court heard she had been a regular user of the Richmond safe-injecting clinic, and had five children, who she did not have contact with.
Bunker’s lawyer argued she should be bailed because of the delay in sorting out the charges, with Bunker contesting the sexual charge, and a hearing unable to take place until 2021.
She said Bunker was at greater risk in custody during the COVID-19 pandemic as an Aboriginal woman, and had a harder time in jail because of her mental health issues.
She proposed Bunker be released under the supervision of the Court Integrated Services Program, to go to a women’s housing service out in Morwell, where she could be away from where she previously used drugs and close to extended family.
Magistrate Michael McNamara agreed to release her, putting her on strict bail conditions.
“There’s a lot of pressure on you to get this right now,” he told her.
