The pursuit of happiness has paid off for this Ivanhoe mum, who took home $100,000 from Millionaire Hot Seat.
Maria, who does not want her surname published, banked the cash prize after just two questions, and said she didn’t even remember applying for the show.
“I started getting really excited just to be on TV and be part of an iconic show,” she said.
“It wasn’t like, great, now I can win some money. I just thought it was going to be really fun.”
The mother of three said she liked to try new things and challenge herself and had recently picked up dancing, which she gave up as a child.
“I like to embrace opportunity. If something is on the horizon I like to go for it, I don’t mind the consequences,” Maria said.

The counsellor said she hoped to use some of the money to put together a production about the impact of mental health issues on Australians.
She is also training to be a classical ballet teacher and could use the money to set up her dance lessons.
Millionaire Hot Seat airs weekdays at 5pm on the Nine Network.
