A large wad of cash has been found among rubble dumped at a recycling depot in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
The money, which was handed to police on Thursday, was discovered by a worker at the depot in Graystone Ct, Epping on April 21.
It’s understood trucks from all over Melbourne bring rubbish to the depot every day, and the cash could have been picked anywhere on the routes.
Police would not say how much cash was found, only that it was a “large” amount.
They are urging anyone who may have lost the cash to report the loss to officers at their local police station, who will be able to return the money to its rightful owner.
Those who believe the cash is theirs should expect to provide invoices, bank statements or exact denominations to verify it belongs to them.
If the money goes unclaimed, it is returned to the finder after three months.
