Affordable blocks of land at a planned new housing estate in Donnybrook are expected to be snapped up by buyers at a virtual event.
Due to COVID restrictions, Stockland has announced the first land release of its new community in Melbourne’s north, scheduled for September 26, will be done under completely virtual conditions.
Named Katalia, the 89.5ha residential community located 39.5 km from the Melbourne CBD is expected to eventually be home to more than 1500 families.
Block sizes in the first release range from 179 to 321sq m.
Prices start from $159,000 for a 179sq m block, with larger blocks planned in future releases.
Stockland is anticipating strong demand from first-home buyers, upgraders and investors in the sale due to the estate’s affordable living and location.
Stockland project director Kerry Balci said the virtual land release will be run using an expression of interest process, where customers will submit their lot preferences via email. “However, it is first-in best-dressed, so customers are urged to submit their request quickly,” Ms Balci said.
“Offering such great value, we expect the first land release at Katalia to sell out and we encourage potential buyers to get in quick.”
The contract signing will be done via DocuSign digitally and successful customers will
receive a physical gift in the mail, instead of the usual in-person gifting to celebrate their
purchase.
The new estate is close to Donnybrook train station and the Hume Freeway.
It will feature 11.5ha of future open space, including a planned local sports reserve, two additional ovals and a proposed government P-12 school.
Ms Balci said the northern corridor was one of the fastest growing in Australia and would play a key role in Melbourne’s future economic and employment growth.
She said it was predicted to be home to more than 260,000 people over the next 30 years.
