THE teddy bears will leaving the woods to picnic on the railways in Eltham over the Queen’s birthday long weekend.
Children aged 17 and under who bring along their teddy bear can ride for free on the seven-quarter inch gauge Diamond Valley Railway on Sunday, June 12, and Monday, June 13.
The Diamond Valley Railway has been operating for more than 50 years and is one of Australia’s most popular miniature railways.
The railway comprises scale replicas of famous passenger cars once used in Victoria’s golden age of railways including the red wooden bodied E and W cars once used on country passenger trains such as the Geelong Flier, and red rattlers and doggies that moved Melburnians for many years.
You can also ride behind a steam or diesel train, or a mini replica of Puffing Billy.
The railway will be open from 11am to 5pm on Sunday and 1-4pm on Monday.
