Police have charged a teenage girl after she allegedly assaulted a police officer responding to a car crash.
Officers were called to Diamond Creek shortly after 9.40pm on Sunday after a woman reported her car was allegedly stolen.
She had been driving along Bruce St in Melbourne’s northeast when she was allegedly stopped by a 16-year-old girl allegedly brandishing a weapon.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the vehicle was found a short time later after a crash on Diamond Creek Rd just a few kilometres away.
Here the girl allegedly assaulted a responding police officer.
The teenager was taken to hospital as a precaution, and on Tuesday, was charged with carjacking, assaulting a police officer, drug possession and driving offences.
She will appear at a children’s court at a later date.
