It was previously reported Clavell entered Amazing Bargains on Puckle St, Moonee Ponds, armed with a “large metal nail punch”.

He then assaulted shop owner Ms Hua Xia with the sharp tool, as well as two customers.

Clavell is the son of the Rodney Clavell, a notorious South Australian criminal, who killed himself in an Adelaide police siege in 2014 after weeks on the run.

The siege sent part of Adelaide’s CBD into lockdown while four women were held hostage.

Between 2017 and 2019, Clavell’s brothers, Joel and Joshua, were watched by counter-terrorism police.

The duo became involved in a shootout with police near a Murray River camping ground after they charged at officers while wielding a knife and an axe.

The two brothers pleaded guilty to charges including assaulting an emergency worker on duty and were jailed in 2020.

The matter was delayed in November 2023, Clavell “refused to leave his cell” to front court.

Clavell did not apply for bail on Wednesday.

He will return to the County Court in October.
