Nick Scali, Beacon Lighting, Freedom and Autobarn are just some of the retailers on offer at Craigieburn’s new homemaker and lifestyle centre, which opens this weekend.
The 21,000 sq m Craigieburn Junction will include furniture, bedding, whitegoods, electrical, pet and auto retailers.
There will also be a female-only gym and a Middle Eastern supermarket to cater to Hume’s multicultural community.
Spokesman David Mark said research had found an “obvious gap” in the market.
“With the substantial growth in new housing, Craigieburn is one of the fastest growing catchments in Victoria,” Mr Mark said.
“It could support that additional floor area for homemaker retail.
“It complements Craigieburn Central by providing a comprehensive large format retail (homemaker centre) offering to round out what has effectively become a town centre for Craigieburn once you factor in Craigieburn Central, the aquatic centre (Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre) and now Craigieburn Junction.”
The new centre will provide about 300 jobs.
Mr Mark said the centre would have about 50 retailers including fast food outlets like Hungry Jacks, a medical clinic and office space.
He said their soft opening two weeks ago had a very positive response.
“The retailers said that the soft opening weekend was very good,” Mr Mark said.
“The figures that came through were very strong.
“It’s been welcomed by the community of Craigieburn.”
Hume Council’s planning and development director Michael Sharp said the planning approval, issued in November 2016, allowed for retail and office space along with a service station and convenience restaurants.

“The new centre complements the Craigieburn town centre shopping precinct by providing a series of larger scale tenancies, approximately 800 sqm to 2200 sqm in tenancy floor space,” Mr Sharp said.
“[It] will cater for a range of businesses such as furniture, home appliances, automotive parts and accessories, electric light fittings and pet supplies.
“The new centre … will not only service a growing community, but it will also provide a diverse range of local job opportunities.”
The junction will have a grand opening on July 20 and July 21 with food trucks, free coffee for the first 200 customers, and face painting for kids. From 11am both days, 420-440 Craigieburn Road, Craigieburn.
