Neighbours have called for better safety measures at a dangerous Craigieburn intersection, after a teenager was struck by a car yesterday at the same spot where a boy was run over by a bus in October.
A 14-year-old student was standing on the footpath at the corner of Grand and Newbury boulevards about 4.10pm when he was struck by a speeding car, police said.
Sergeant Stephen Solyom of Craigieburn Police said a grey Holden commodore lost control as the driver attempted to turn left from Newbury Blvd into Grand Blvd, colliding with a nearby sign before hitting the teen.

The teenager suffered leg injuries and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
The 19-year-old male driver from Mickleham was arrested at the scene and has been released pending further inquiries.

The incident follows an accident at the same intersection on October 31 last year, in which Mt Ridley College student Charlee Jones miraculously survived after tripping and falling into the path of an oncoming school bus.
Charlee spent four weeks in hospital recovering from extensive surgeries, which included a skin graft, after fracturing his leg in two places and shredding his calf muscle.
The 10-year-old can now walk and jog, but is expected to suffer lifelong pain.
Craigieburn man Akki Gaurav, who lives near the busy intersection, said more speed bumps needed to be installed in the area to improve pedestrian safety.
“I see so many reckless drivers every day,” he said.
Craigieburn woman Tamkeen Shahid said in addition to speed bumps, “there should be some more crossing guards or police officers (on) duty around school timings”.
The incident was witnessed by several bystanders.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
