Guard rails, speed limit signs and warning markers will be installed to fix two “high priority” road hazards in Arthurs Creek and Cottles Bridge.
New 40km/h signs and guard rails outside Arthurs Creek Primary School will be put in to protect students and slow down traffic.
Further safety measures and warning signs will be installed at hazard points along Cottles Bridge-Strathewen Rd, between Greens Rd and Hildebrand Rd in Cottles Bridge.
It comes after Nillumbik Council secured $425,000 to improve the roads as part of the Federal Government’s Black Spot Program.
Mayor Karen Egan said the roads were among a list of 71 Victorian black spots which were identified as high priority.
“Council appreciates any funding that goes towards making our roads as safe as possible and I am pleased to see the safety of all our residents, in particular those in the rural areas, and everyone else using our roads will be improved as a result of this,” she said.

Works are expected to start early next year.
