A teenager on an alleged crazy driving spree in Melbourne’s west allegedly got help from a resident and locked himself inside their home before police caught up with him.

A teenager allegedly got help from a random resident and locked himself inside their home before police arrested him for alleged erratic driving in Melbourne’s west.
Officers understand the teen was first spotted driving erratically in a grey Ford Territory with fake number plates on Barry Rd in Broadmeadows about 3.25pm on June 9.
Police then began following the car after it allegedly went onto the opposite side of the road in Corinella Crescent in Dallas and swerved to miss hitting pedestrians.
It then allegedly hit two cars in Blair St, followed by another two cars in Congram St, with the driver bolting from the scene about 3.30pm.
Police understand the teen then approached a resident in the street who ushered him inside their home to hide from officers, and the teen locked himself inside.
Officers eventually entered the home, found the teen and arrested him.
The 17-year-old male was charged with 16 alleged offences, including possessing a drug of dependence, driving an unregistered car, reckless conduct, and eight counts of failing to stop at an accident scene to exchange details.
No one was injured in the two crashes, but the Ford Territory driven by the teenager was severely damaged.
The teen was bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date, and any witnesses or anyone with information can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
