A jilted ex-boyfriend broke into a man’s home and stuck a knife in his pillow after hearing the man had slept with his ex, a court has heard.

Callan O’Riley-Brooks, 19, pleaded guilty to charges including aggravated burglary and making a threat to kill when he fronted County Court on Thursday, September 10.

O’Riley-Brooks, who was 18 at the time, told police he filmed his actions as he ransacked the man’s Kinglake home after 1pm on July 16, 2019, then sent the footage out on Snapchat.

The court heard the enraged teen had told his ex-girlfriend he was going to kill the man before he drove to the man’s house, where he found no one home.

O’Riley-Brooks kicked his way into the man’s home and ransacked his bedroom, flipping a desk.

He then used a filleting knife he had with him to stab the man’s pillow, leaving the knife sticking out of it, before driving away.

When the Sunbury teenager was arrested the following day he told police “he’d flipped his sh*t” after finding out the man had slept with his ex-girlfriend days earlier.

He told police “he was being a f*cking idiot” and his behaviour was “f*cked and weird”.

The court heard O’Riley-Brooks was using methamphetamine at the time, which he’d started taking since breaking up with his girlfriend weeks earlier.

The teen had no prior convictions.

The matter will return to court on October 21.
