A shaken bus driver has been unable to return to work after he was hit in the face with a bag of poo in Wollert last week.

The disgusting premeditated act at Wollert on November 13 has police still searching for the culprit.

After the bus stopped at Harvest Home Rd at Greenfields Drive about 9.40pm, the bearded attacker stepped onto the bus and threw a plastic bag, with poo inside, at the driver.

The bag hit the security meshing and splattered throughout the driver’s compartment, landing on his face, jacket and in his eye.

Poo also splattered on sections of the bus, but no passengers were befouled.

Transit Safety Division Acting Sergeant Todd Little said the driver had been left shaken and stressed by the attack and was yet to return to work.

“It’s a particularly heinous event and it’s left the driver, who was just going about his day to day work, shaken,” Sgt Little said.

“He’s had to have a couple of weeks off work and he’s receiving ongoing medical and psychological help.”

Sgt Little said the texture of the faeces led driver to believe it was human poo.

“Within the bag was a number of small rocks and the bag has actually hit the safety security mesh and then splattered throughout the driver’s compartment,” he said.

“It’s an absolutely disgusting act and we’re doing our best to identify this man and hold him to account.”

Sgt Little said the attack appeared premeditated but the driver didn’t know who he was and hadn’t had any indication of people being upset in relation to services.

“No words were spoken, he simply stepped onto the bus and threw the bag,” Sgt Little said.

He said police hadn’t had any reports of similar offending.

The cowardly attacker, described as caucasian, aged between 30 and 40 years old with a medium height and build, ran away after the throw.

He was wearing a beige beanie, a yellow and black hi-vis jumper, and dark pants with a white stripe down each leg.
