Westmeadows resident Nicole Bologna can’t wait to play with her beloved dog Hachi at Broadmeadows’ new off-leash dog park.
“It means I am able to play catch and frisbee without worrying that he might run into traffic,” she said.

DANGEROUS DOGS ON THE ATTACK IN HUME
Located in the John Ilhan Memorial Reserve, the park has a 1.2m perimeter fence and a separate fenced area for smaller dogs.
There is also agility training equipment including a dog bridge, weave poles, a tunnel, a sit and stay platform, and hurdles. Drinking fountains with dog water bowls and bins with waste bags are also at the facility.
Hume Mayor Carly Moore said the new park was a safe place for people to exercise their dogs. But she said owners should ensure their dogs could be controlled while off-leash.
“The rules are in place, so everyone can enjoy the park safely,” Cr Moore said.
“Until your pet has the socialisation and obedience training to respond to your voice commands they must stay on a lead, even within the park.”
Important park rules are dogs must:
Wear a collar
Wear current council registration tags
Be fully supervised
Be under effective voice control
Be on a leash outside the dog park
