If you’re looking for the best burgers in Melbourne’s north, look no further than Royal Stacks. The Brunswick eatery has been voted as having the best burgers in the north.

Dani Zeini came late to burgers, having been trained in European cuisine, but he says that after tasting a burger in America, he was hooked.

“When I went to the States for the first time and I had a burger, it just knocked my socks off. It was literally an out of body experience. And you know before that I’d just had McDonald‘s, that or the local fish and chip shops. That was all I knew about burgers,” he said.

When he returned to Melbourne, he knew he had to make his own.

He began experimenting with burger recipes, finetuning the ingredients of the buns, the patty mix and the types of cheeses used.

The result was a secret venue burger menu, which rapidly gained in popularity as it spread by word-of-mouth. Royal Stacks was born from the secret venue venture.

Since then Royal Stacks has opened restaurants in Brunswick and Chadstone, with the Brunswick store also catering for Halal.

One of the secrets is that the burgers don’t make you feel bloated, because of a secret burger bun recipe that balances gluten levels differently from traditional buns.

Royal Stacks also grill their patties without oil and use another technique to seal the fat and juices inside the meat while cooking.

Mr Zeini was delighted that Royal Stacks had been chosen by Leader readers as a favourite.

The most popular from Royal Stacks is the Kavorka, a fried chicken burger with coleslaw, cheesy sauce and chipotle, followed closely by the Saint, the King and the Single Stack.
