If you’ve ever doubted good things come in small packages, get a glimpse of footy superstar Ava Jordan in action.
The “four foot nothing” junior won back to back league best and fairest awards and will join the Team Vic U15 football team when they head to Launceston this month.
All this despite being a bottom age player.
Ava’s father Dean Jordan said she had been playing against bigger and older opponents since she started playing Aussie rules in Grade 2 against Grade 5s.
“She’s quick, she’s got really good vision and she’s just a good team player,” Mr Jordan said.
“She brings others into the game.”
Ava won the Yarra Junior Football League best and fairest as an U12 in 2017 and as an U14 in 2018.
She also won the Banyule JFC best and fairest in both years.
Mr Jordan compared his daughter to tough, in-and-under AFLW midfielders Erin Phillips and Daisy Pearce.
Ava has attracted a bit of attention and been asked to play for VAFA clubs to play despite being three years younger than required.
The Our Lady Of Mercy College student also plays point guard for the Eltham Wildcats basketball team and was selected to represent the Vic Metro U14 team at the 2019 Southern Cross Challenge.
