A TASTE of Colombia has found a home in Preston.
Arepa Days is a family venture from husband and wife Santiago and Carolina Villamizar, serving up the traditional Colombian staple of Arepa.

HOW A CAFE BECAME AN INSTITUTION
Made from ground corn, Mr Villamizar said arepa was treated like bread in South America.
“Every grandma has a little mill, a grinder at home and they would cook the corn and grind it, make it old school,” he said.
The original idea was just to have a mini arepa factory at the Preston site, but it transformed into a venue to showcase the food.
Arepas are made at the cafe twice a week and are sent to others, including South American sister cafe Sonido in Fitzroy.
Visitors can see the process from start to finish through a window in their brightly coloured cafe.
Mr Villamizar said he came to Australia to study, but fell in love with the hospitality industry and started Sonido eight years ago.
Traditional Colombian styles are offered on the menu including chorizo and Morcilla, or blood sausage.
And if you need a caffeine fix to quell your South American appetite, they serve Seven Seeds coffee too.
Arepa Days is open Monday to Saturday 8am to 3.30pm at 25 Preston St, Preston.
