Apex gang thug Aydin Hamit jailed for torching Epping business in drug debt ‘revenge attack’
An Apex gang member was back to his violent best when he torched an Epping business in a “revenge attack” to repay a drug debt even while serving a good behaviour bond in the community.

An Apex gang member was still serving a court order for violent offending when he torched an Epping business to repay a drug debt.
Aydin Hamit, 22, was sentenced in the County Court on Thursday to a minimum two years’ and six months’ jail after pleading guilty to arson, possessing a poison and drug possession.
Hamit was captured on CCTV torching an Epping business early on February 3 last year.
Police arrested Hamit on March 2 following a short investigation.
The serial crook was nabbed with heroin, valium, diazepam, Cephalexin and Proxen.
The court heard the thug junkie torched the business in a “revenge act” to clear a drug debt.
Hamit has multiple prior convictions.
In 2018, Hamit was sentenced to time served — 112 days and a three-year-community correction order after pleading guilty to carjacking.
Hamit was on bail back in 2016 when he and two goons stole a Holden Commodore and hooned dangerously around the city before dumping the car in Glen Iris.
Hamit drove down tram tracks on a closed Collins Street in the CBD putting late-night road workers at risk, ran a red light and crashed into a taxi, spinning it 360 degrees.
Hamit, who was also handed 250 hours of volunteer work, breached the carjacking CCO when he committed his latest offending.
Judge Irene Lawson jailed Hamit for a maximum four years.
