An accused Preston drug dealer allegedly nabbed with a stack of drugs and a homemade taser while already on bail has been granted another chance at freedom.

Vince Paladino, 49, was granted bail in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday after he was charged with multiple offences including trafficking meth and cannabis.

The two-day hearing was Paladino’s second crack at bail after he was nabbed at his Preston home on December 14 last year.

The court heard police raided Paladino’s one-bedroom Birdwood Drive home three days earlier after receiving a tip-off he’d allegedly been slinging ice.

Investigators allegedly seized almost half-a-kilo of cannabis, meth, GHB-mirror drug bute, ecstasy, several sets of scales, a tick book and stolen number plates.

Investigators also allegedly discovered a homemade taser, made of a 160cm-long wooden pole and an extension lead, which police believed could cause death or serious injury, and a torch taser.

Paladino, who wasn’t home at the time, was arrested when police returned to the property on December 14.

He allegedly told police he had the taser for protection and would use it if he needed to.

Paladino admitted possessing some of the drugs but his girlfriend Sophie Potlimerzovic possessed the bute and some bloke called ‘Rocky’ owned the torch taser.

Paladino also alleged the owner of his home had access to the property and “sometimes” went there “unsupervised”.

The court heard Paladino was already on five counts of bail, including for alleged drug dealing charges.

Paladino had also allegedly previously been caught with swords and driven at someone on two occasions.

Police told the court Paladino posed an “unacceptable risk” of violence to the community.

Paladino’s lawyer pushed for him to be granted bail, with Paladino’s first application having been refused, saying he could now be supervised by the Court Integrated Services Program.

The defence called Paladino’s sister who told the court her brother would live with their elderly mother in Thomastown if released from custody.

Paladino, who appeared via videolink from Ravenhall Correctional Centre, was granted bail with strict conditions he live with his mum and not associate with Ms Potlimerzovic.

The two-day hearing got off to a shaky start when Paladino interrupted last Thursday’s sitting.

Paladino, who had spent 106 days on remand, aggressively yelled out “hurry up” during submissions.

Paladino will face court again at a later date.
