THE LARGEST road project in Melbourne’s west has given local businesses the chance to grow by integrating them into bustling project works.

The Westgate Tunnel Project has launched the Workforce Trader Directory, a new online portal which puts project workers in touch with local businesses across the west and encourages them to support them.

Businesses will also have the chance to set up shop in the heart of the project works.

The cafe has plonked a coffee van in the middle of the construction blitz on Whitehall St.

Cafe owner Brett Adamson said the van had been incredibly popular among site workers since it launched a few months ago.

“We get very busy — as long as we keep serving good coffee we will be here,” he said.

The tunnel project is expected to create around 6000 jobs. “It’s a win-win for workers and local businesses,” tunnel project business development manager Meg Walker said.
