The Ascot Lot team open restaurant in Moonee Ponds
The team behind a popular Ascot Vale beer garden have converted a derelict milk bar into a craft beer store - and it’s just the start of their plans, with an even bigger project on the way which will bring a “Brunswick vibe” to Moonee Valley.

A dining hall is in the works in Moonee Ponds to bring “a Brunswick vibe” to the north west.
The trio behind The Ascot Lot, and Clint Weaver from Froth Magazine, have converted the derelict Rosso’s supermarket into a pop-up craft beer shop Fizz and Hop in Holmes Rd.
The shop stocks IPAs, stouts, and sour beers from local and international craft breweries, as well as household names like Furphy, and Victorian wines for those without a hoppy palate.
But the store will only be open for about six months before the entire shop is fitted out into a dining hall.
Part owner Jacob Bettio said the team were only in the planning stages at the moment but were hoping to have construction finished by summer.
The menu will change hands to a different chef every three months, and will coincide with the seasons.
Free beer tastings run every fortnight at the store, showcasing a different brewery, so people can “learn a bit about beer”, Mr Bettio said.
Fizz and Hop is at 15 Holmes Road, Moonee Ponds.
Open Tuesday and Wednesday from 2pm to 9pm
Thursday and Friday from 12pm to 9pm
Weekends from 11am to 9pm
